Dear Parents and Swimmers,

It’s time to gear up for our team’s annual fundraiser. This will be our 8th annual fundraiser. In order for this to be a success everyone on the team must participate.

  • EVENT: DeKalb Aquatics Swim-a-Thon
  • WHO: All Team Members
  • WHEN: October 10-11th
  • TIME: TBA

For this event to be a success please follow the following guidelines:

  1. Begin your pledge process immediately. You may solicit pledges or sponsorships from family, friends, teachers, ministers, neighbors, businesses, and or corporations. You can ask them to sponsor a flat rate contribution or pledge an amount per length that your child swims. EX: Jane says that they will pledge $1 per length. Sam swims the maximum of 200 lengths in the 2 hour period, then Jane would owe Sam $200.00. Other examples of pledges are listed on your swim-a-thon envelope. (All pledges and contributions are tax deductible).
  2. Please be on time for your designated swim-a-thon date. Please arrive 15 minutes before the start time so that the swimmers can start on time. Each swimmer is responsible for having a counter. A lap counter sheet will be distributed at the swim-a-thon.
  3. Immediately after the swim-a-thon the collection process begins. There will be a group of volunteer parents to assist with the collection process. All monies are due 2 weeks after the swim-a-thon has been completed. You will be given tax-deductible receipts at the swim-a-thon.
  4. After all of the money is tallied we will issue awards to the swimmers for their outstanding efforts.

Rules of a Swim-a-Thon:

  1. The swimmer has 2 hours to complete as many lengths of the pool that he or she can without the aid of any devices.
  2. The swimmer may rest on any end of the pool as long as his or her feet do not touch the bottom of the pool.
  3. Parents are responsible for counting for the swimmers. It is also their responsibility to get the coach to sign off on the pledge envelopes the amount of lengths that the swimmer has completed.
  4. The parents must turn in all monies within a 2 week time frame.
  5. Everyone must participate.

Awards:

INDIVIDUAL AWARDS: Awarded to the male or female swimmer who raises the most money.
  • 1st place: Nike suit.
  • 2nd place: Nike bag.
  • 3rd place: Team towel.

OTHER AWARDS:

  • *All participants will receive a certificate.
  • *Swimmers 10 & under achieving 100 lengths will receive a swim-a-thon pin.
  • *Swimmers 11 & up achieving 200 lengths will receive a swim-a-thon pin.
